Welcome Back to Yourself.
There are moments in life when we realise that we have been moving so quickly that we have forgotten to check in with the one person who has been there through everything: ourselves.
Perhaps you have been busy building your career, growing your business, looking after your family, travelling, meeting deadlines, supporting other people, or simply trying to keep up with everyday life. Or perhaps you have just returned from holiday, and being back at work already makes you feel like your whole body is shrinking back into the same old routine. We hear you, and we feel you.
Very often, most of us tell these stories to ourselves on a daily basis:
“I’ll rest when things calm down.”
“I’ll look after myself when I have more time.”
“I just need to get through this week.”
And then another week begins. Another month, another year. You postpone yourself for the future. But life is today, not yesterday or tomorrow. Our daily thoughts and actions become our habits, and before you know it, you have become very good at taking care of everything and everyone except yourself. This is where wellbeing becomes more than simply eating well, exercising, or taking a holiday when you can, especially when you cannot simply relax and let it go.
We believe that wellbeing is about your relationship with yourself first. It is about mindfulness: observing your body and noticing when you are tired, when you are sad or happy, and when your body may be asking you to slow down, quiet your mind, and take your own space. It is about creating enough space within yourself so that you can hear your own inner self again.
At Reiki2Day, we believe that wellbeing is about creating space to reconnect with yourself and cultivate greater balance in your everyday life. Small steps, every – single – day. If you are new to energy healing, Reiki can be one complementary practice that supports this process. It is not about fixing everything in your life overnight; it is about creating a moment to pause and acknowledge yourself with all your experiences. A moment to just be, breathe perhaps a little slower than normal, become a little more present, and reconnect with your inner self. And sometimes, simply giving yourself permission to make yourself a priority and to stop trying to be everything for everyone can be incredibly powerful.
What Does Wellbeing Really Mean in the Modern World?
This is not an easy question to answer. Wellbeing is a very personal matter and means different things to different people. For some, it may mean feeling physically healthy; for others, it may mean having greater work-life balance, greater emotional balance, reducing stress, spending more time in nature (here at Reiki2Day, we are huge fans of nature, as you can see in our design 😉), reconnecting with loved ones, or simply finding a stronger sense of purpose.
For us, wellbeing is a process, it’s a journey in itself, and it is holistic. We see every human being as more than just one body with its individual parts. We believe that our emotions, spirituality, physical body, thoughts, relationships, the different energies around us, our environment, lifestyle, and sense of purpose in this life can all influence how we experience our daily lives.
When we start neglecting some parts of ourselves, we may notice that other areas begin to feel different too. It’s almost like when your body has not slept properly for several nights. Your body becomes tired, your eyes may feel itchy, your concentration slows down, your patience becomes shorter, your emotions may feel more intense and difficult to manage, and you may realise that even small daily decisions or tasks are becoming harder to deal with. One imbalance in one area of our life or our body – physical, emotional, or spiritual – can influence an imbalance in other parts.
This is why wellbeing is like a regular practice, like going for walks or brushing your teeth, rather than being something we only think about when we start feeling exhausted. Looking after yourself is not a luxury; it is a necessity in the modern world. It is part of creating a balanced and meaningful life.
1. Start By Listening To Your Body
Our bodies are constantly communicating with us. The challenge is that many of us have become very good at ignoring their messages.
We continue working when we are tired. We sit for hours without moving. We rush through our meals without stopping to pause and enjoy them. We struggle with sleep. We stay connected to our phones late into the evening. We push ourselves every day, every minute, believing that we always have to move forward and keep going.
But our physical bodies have limits.
Sometimes, well-being starts with one incredibly simple word: listen.
Listen to your body.
Is it feeling tired? Is your body tense? If so, where do you feel that tension? Can you notice it more deeply? Are you breathing shallowly right now? Can you feel tightness or contraction in your chest? Have you been sitting for too long today? Have you drunk enough water? What about your eating habits? Have you been outside today?
And perhaps most importantly: have you given yourself permission, without guilt or regret, to simply rest, stop, and be with yourself for a moment?
All of these questions may sound simple, but very often, the simplest things in our lives are the most powerful and profound.
You do not need a complicated wellness routine that takes hours every day. Sometimes, well-being can begin with a small glass of water, stepping outside barefoot onto warm grass, taking a deep breath and feeling your chest expand, stretching your body with just a few simple exercises, or going somewhere quiet and peaceful-even for only five minutes.
Your body does not need to be perfect. It needs to be acknowledged. It needs your attention.
So start by listening.
2. Give Your Mind Somewhere Quiet To Go
In our busy modern world, there is very little space for true silence.
From the moment we wake up, we are surrounded by information. Emails, notifications, social media, news, messages, meetings, responsibilities, deadlines, and endless things asking for our attention. Even when our bodies are resting, our minds can continue racing from one thought to another.
Over time, all of this external noise can leave us feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, and unable to hear what is happening within ourselves.
This is why creating moments of quiet is such an important part of our well-being.
In Reiki, we are invited to slow down and become present. When we allow ourselves to step away from constant distractions, even for a few minutes, we create space to reconnect with ourselves. We begin to notice our thoughts, emotions, sensations, and the subtle ways our body may be asking for our attention.
Your quiet moment does not need to look a certain way.
Perhaps it is sitting peacefully with a cup of tea and allowing yourself to simply be. Maybe it is taking a gentle walk in nature without your phone. You may choose to meditate, journal, read a book, listen to calming music, or simply close your eyes and take a few slow, deep breaths.
There is no right or wrong way to create stillness.
The intention is simply to give your mind somewhere quiet to rest.
When the noise around us begins to soften, we may become more aware of what is happening within. Sometimes we discover that we are tired. Sometimes we realise that we have been holding tension or emotions that need our attention. And sometimes, we simply experience a sense of peace.
These quiet moments can become a beautiful way of reconnecting with yourself.
You do not always need to fix, change, or understand everything. Sometimes, you simply need to slow down, become present, and allow yourself the space to listen.
Because in the quiet, we often find our way back to ourselves.
3. Allow Yourself to Feel
Well-being does not mean feeling positive, happy, or energised all the time.
Life is made up of many different emotions. There is joy, sadness, frustration, excitement, uncertainty, grief, love, fear, gratitude, disappointment, and countless feelings in between. Every emotion can be part of the human experience, and allowing ourselves to feel does not mean that something is wrong with us.
For those who are particularly sensitive or empathic, emotions can sometimes feel even more intense. You may find yourself deeply affected by the feelings of people around you or by the energy and atmosphere of your environment. At times, it can be difficult to understand which emotions are truly your own and which may have been influenced by everything happening around you.
Trying to suppress difficult emotions does not necessarily make them disappear. Sometimes, what we need most is simply to pause and acknowledge what we are feeling.
You might gently ask yourself:
What am I feeling right now?
What might be contributing to this feeling?
What do I need mostly today?
There is no need to rush towards an answer. There is no need to judge yourself for how you feel. And you do not have to solve everything that is currently on your mind.
Sometimes, simple awareness can be the first and most important step.
Speaking with someone you trust, journalling, spending time in nature, or working with an appropriate professional can offer supportive ways to explore your emotions in a safe and non-judgemental environment.
And sometimes, a Reiki healing session can offer another peaceful opportunity to pause, slow down, and gently turn your attention inward.
You do not need to have everything figured out. You can simply allow yourself a moment to be present with what you are feeling.
Because sometimes, healing begins not by pushing our feelings away, but by giving ourselves permission to acknowledge them with kindness and compassion.
4. Reconnect With Nature

There is something deeply grounding and healing about spending time in nature.
Walking through a forest, feeling the warmth of the sun on your face, listening to birds singing, watching the sea and hearing the gentle rhythm of the waves, standing barefoot on the grass, sitting beneath a tree, watching a sunrise or sunset, or simply looking up at the stars-these simple moments can help us slow down and reconnect with ourselves.
Nature reminds us that life does not always need to move at the speed of our calendars.
Trees do not rush to become perfect. The ocean does not check its emails. The sunrise does not worry about tomorrow’s deadlines. Nature simply exists, moves through its own rhythms, and lives in harmony with the world around it.
Perhaps this is one of the reasons why spending time in nature can feel so restorative. It gently invites us to slow down, breathe more deeply, and return to the present moment.
You do not need to travel somewhere exotic or far away to experience this connection. Your local park may be enough. Your garden can become a peaceful sanctuary. Even a few minutes sitting outside, noticing the sky, feeling the air on your skin, or listening to the sounds around you can create a meaningful moment of connection.
And sometimes, it can be as simple as opening a window and taking a few slow, conscious breaths.
Well-being does not always require us to search for something far away. Sometimes, it begins with noticing and appreciating what is already around us.
Nature is always there, gently reminding us to pause, breathe, and simply be.
5. Learn New Belief That Rest Is Not Laziness
For many of us, this can be one of the most difficult beliefs to change.
We may have grown up believing that our value is connected to how productive we are. We measure our days by what we have accomplished, how many emails we have answered, how much money we have earned, how many tasks we have completed, or how many goals we have reached.
We can become so focused on doing that we forget how important it is to simply be.
But you are not a machine. You are a human being.
Your body, mind, and energy need time to pause, restore, and recharge. You are allowed to rest without having to justify it. You are allowed to have an afternoon where you do very little. You are allowed to sleep, take a break, say no, or pause before responding.
You are allowed to take care of yourself before you reach complete exhaustion.
Rest is not a reward for doing enough. It is not something you need to earn through productivity.
Rest is part of being human.
In Reiki, we create space to slow down, become present, and reconnect with ourselves. This reminds us that healing and restoration do not always come through doing more. Sometimes, they come through allowing ourselves to stop.
When we give ourselves permission to rest, we give our body and mind an opportunity to restore their natural balance.
So the next time you feel guilty for taking a break, gently remind yourself:
I do not have to earn my right to rest.
You are worthy of rest even on the days when you have not completed everything on your list.
Sometimes, doing less is exactly what your body, mind, and energy need the most.
6. Protect Your Personal Energy
One of the most valuable things we can learn on our journey towards well-being is that boundaries are an important part of self-care.
We cannot be available to everyone, all of the time.
You do not have to respond immediately to every message. You do not have to attend every event you are invited to. You do not have to explain every decision you make. And you do not have to remain in relationships that continually leave you feeling drained, overwhelmed, or hurt.
You are allowed to protect your time, your attention, and your emotional space without feeling guilty.
Having healthy boundaries does not mean becoming cold, distant, or disconnected from others. Quite the opposite. When we create enough space for ourselves, we may find that we have more energy and presence for the people and relationships that genuinely matter to us.
Think of your energy as something precious. It deserves your awareness and care.
Sometimes, protecting your energy may mean saying no. Sometimes it may mean taking time alone, turning off your phone, stepping away from a difficult conversation, or choosing not to take on something that you simply do not have the capacity for.
And sometimes, it may mean listening to that quiet inner feeling that tells you when something is no longer right for you.
In Reiki, we are encouraged to turn our attention inward and become more aware of ourselves. This awareness can help us recognise when we are giving too much, carrying too much, or neglecting our own needs.
You cannot support everyone if you are constantly running on empty cup.
Taking care of yourself is not selfish. It allows you to replenish your own energy so that, when you choose to give to others, you can do so from a place of greater balance, presence, and compassion.
Protecting your energy is not about building walls around yourself.
It is about learning where your boundaries are – and giving yourself permission to honor them.
7. Reconnect With Your Purpose
Sometimes feeling unwell is not only about being physically tired. We can also become tired when our lives no longer feel connected to what truly matters to us.
Perhaps you have achieved something you once dreamed about, only to realise that it no longer brings you happiness. Perhaps you have spent years following other people’s expectations and have slowly lost touch with your own wishes. Or perhaps life has simply become so busy that you have forgotten what brings you joy, meaning, and a sense of fulfilment.
Sometimes, we need to pause and gently ask ourselves:
What matters to me now?
What brings meaning to my life?
What do I genuinely enjoy?
What does my heart need at this stage of my life?
Our sense of purpose can change as we grow.
What mattered deeply to us ten or twenty years ago may no longer feel right today. Our priorities change, our experiences shape us, and we continue to discover new parts of ourselves.
There is nothing wrong with changing direction.
There is nothing wrong with beginning again.
And there is nothing wrong with realising that your definition of success has changed.
In Reiki, we are invited to slow down, become present, and turn our awareness inward. In that quiet space, we may begin to notice feelings, thoughts, and inner nudges that have been difficult to hear amongst the noise of everyday life.
You do not always need to know exactly where you are going. Sometimes, the next step becomes clearer when you give yourself permission to pause and listen.
Well-being can sometimes mean allowing yourself to become the person you are now, rather than continually trying to live according to an older version of yourself.
Perhaps your purpose is not something you need to find once and hold onto forever.
Perhaps it is something that unfolds naturally as you grow, change, heal, and become more deeply connected with yourself.
Give yourself permission to explore.
You are allowed to change. You are allowed to grow. You are allowed to begin again.
And you are allowed to create a life that feels meaningful to the person you are becoming.
8. Remember The Human Behind Everything
We often spend our lives trying to become better versions of ourselves.
More successful.
More productive.
More organised.
More financially secure.
More knowledgeable.
More accomplished.
The list go on, and on.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to grow. Learning, changing, and moving towards the life we desire can all be beautiful parts of our journey.
But beneath all of those ambitions is something we can sometimes forget:
A human being.
A human being who sometimes gets tired.
A human being who sometimes feels lost.
A human being who needs connection.
A human being who needs rest.
A human being who needs love.
A human being who deserves compassion.
In a world that constantly encourages us to do more, achieve more, and become more, it can be easy to forget that we are already worthy simply because we are human.
Perhaps true well-being is not always about trying to improve ourselves.
Perhaps sometimes it is about learning to accept ourselves exactly where we are.
Reiki can offer a gentle space to step away from the pressure of constantly doing and simply reconnect with yourself. To pause. To breathe. To notice what you are carrying and allow yourself a moment of kindness.
You are allowed to be a work in progress.
You are allowed to have difficult days.
You are allowed to change your mind.
You are allowed to make mistakes.
You are allowed to start again.
You are allowed to slow down.
And you are allowed to take care of yourself.
You do not have to have everything figured out.
You do not have to become a perfect version of yourself before you deserve peace.
You are already a human being, living, learning, changing, and finding your way.
And perhaps sometimes, the most healing thing you can do is stop trying to become someone else-and gently come back to yourself.
9. What Is Reiki And How Can It Support Your Well-being?
Reiki is a complementary wellbeing practice that originated in Japan and is commonly associated with relaxation, meditation, mindfulness, and a sense of inner balance.
The word Reiki is often understood as relating to universal or spiritual energy. During a Reiki session, a practitioner creates a calm and peaceful environment and uses gentle hand positions on or above the body.
People experience Reiki in different ways. Some describe a deep sense of relaxation, while others notice feelings of warmth, calmness, emotional release, or simply the feeling of having a quiet space where they can switch off from the outside world. Every experience is personal, and there is no particular sensation you need to experience for a Reiki session to be meaningful.
Reiki can also be experienced through distant sessions, which allow you to create this dedicated time for yourself from the comfort of your own home. For many people, this can be a convenient and peaceful way to step away from everyday responsibilities without needing to travel.
Before a distant Reiki session, you might create a comfortable space, put your phone on silent, make yourself a warm drink, light a candle if appropriate, play gentle music, and take a few slow breaths. Most importantly, give yourself permission to be present and free from expectations.
You do not need to treat the session as another task to complete.
Let it be a pause.
A pause to slow down.
A pause to breathe.
A pause to turn your attention inward.
A pause to reconnect with yourself.
A pause to simply be.
It is also important to understand that Reiki is a complementary wellbeing practice, not a replacement for medical care or a proven treatment for illness. It can be approached as one part of a broader approach to self-care and wellbeing, alongside appropriate medical or professional support when needed.
10. Reiki As A Moment To Come Back To Yourself
One of the reasons Reiki can become such a meaningful part of our wellbeing is because it gives us something that can be surprisingly difficult to find in everyday life: a moment to come back to ourselves.
Life can become very busy and noisy. There are always emails to answer, messages coming through, responsibilities to take care of, deadlines to meet, and people who need our attention. We can become so used to constantly doing something that we forget what it feels like to simply stop and be present with ourselves.
A Reiki session can create that space.
For a little while, you can step away from the usual demands of life and give yourself permission to lie down, breathe, relax, and simply receive. You do not need to be productive during this time, and you do not need to achieve anything. There is no inbox waiting for you, no meeting you need to prepare for, and no expectation that you need to perform or be a certain way. It is simply time that you have chosen to give to yourself.
People come to Reiki for many different reasons. Some may be feeling stressed or overwhelmed and are looking for a peaceful way to slow down. Others may be curious about Reiki, interested in exploring spirituality, or simply looking for a different kind of self-care. Some people already have a personal Reiki practice and want to spend more time deepening that connection. Whatever your reason, there is no particular way you are supposed to feel during a session.
You do not need to force anything to happen or wait for a specific experience. You may feel deeply relaxed, notice different sensations, become aware of your thoughts or emotions, or simply enjoy having some uninterrupted quiet time. Every person and every session can be different.
If you are having a distant Reiki session, you can make the experience even more personal by preparing a comfortable and peaceful space at home. You might put your phone on silent, make yourself a warm drink, light a candle if it feels right for you, play some gentle music, and give yourself enough uninterrupted time to relax. These small things can help you create a clear separation between the busyness of your day and the time you are choosing to spend with yourself.
Most importantly, try not to think of Reiki as another thing you have to complete or another item on your wellbeing checklist. You do not have to do it perfectly. You do not have to achieve a certain state of mind. You can simply give yourself permission to slow down and see what comes up naturally.
Sometimes we spend so much of our lives looking after everything and everyone else that we forget to check in with ourselves. A Reiki session can be a gentle reminder to pause and ask, How am I really feeling? What do I need right now?
Perhaps that is what makes these moments so valuable. They give us the opportunity to step away from the outside world for a little while and reconnect with the person who is always there underneath all the responsibilities, expectations, and daily routines.
Sometimes, we do not need to do more.
Sometimes, we simply need a quiet moment to come back to ourselves. And this is what we encourage you to do, not tomorrow but today.
